#1 Copper consists of clean, unalloyed, uncoated copper tubing & pipe, buss bars, clippings, punching’s and wire. Clean copper pipe should not have any copper ends or fittings attached.

#2 Copper consists of miscellaneous pipe, wire, and other solids that have any solder, paint or enamel on them. The copper ends that are not allowed on clean #1 copper, are accepted here.

Silver Contacts
Silver Contacts are pieces of silver soldered to copper that are used in high voltage electrical applications. These contacts must be separated from their copper counterpart and mostly free of copper, dirt, oil, and other contaminants. If they are not separated they are considered to be #2 Copper. Most of these contacts are 90% silver. BE WARNED!!! Most of these contacts contain a small amount of Cadmium. If and when you are separating these from their copper counterpart, wear a respirator. When melted to gas form the Cadmium is poisonous. Silver Contacts must be tested with our XRF Analyzer in order to verify their Silver Content.
Copper Turnings
Copper Turnings are shavings, grindings, or borings of unalloyed copper which are the result of many different manufacturing processes. They may have some residual oil or dirt from the cutting process. These turnings are also found in labs and schools and are used as a lab reagent.
Cupro Nickel
There are a few different types of Cupronickel. The most common mix of copper and nickel is 75% copper and 25% nickel with a trace amount of manganese. You can usually differentiate copper from Cupronickel by the silver tone of Cupronickel.
