Heavy Melt Steel

Heavy Melt Steel generally has 2 classifications. #1 Prepared, and Unprepared. #1 Prepared Heavy Melt Steel consists of at least 1/4″ thick steel cut into no more than 2 ft x 5ft sections. Unprepared material is just as the name suggests, large pieces of unprepared Steel and machinery. The Steel should be clean and free of any dirt, debris, or attachments. There should be no Copper , Aluminum , Brass and Bronze, or Stainless Steel attached to the Steel. Cut up pieces of Large Scrap Machinery, Scrap Excavator Buckets, Scrap Excavator tracks, Clean vehicle rims (small and large), and anything that follows the criteria but is not Prepared Plate and Structure.

Prepared Plate and Structure Steel consists mostly of Steel I beams and Plate material that is more than 1/4″ thick and is cut into no more than 4’x4′ sections. This class of Steel is usually the by-product of a demolition or a teardown of larger buildings or machinery. There should be no Copper , Aluminum , Brass and Bronze , or Stainless Steel attached to this material.

Examples of this category are large pieces of Scrap Machinery, Scrap Forklifts, Scrap Bulldozers, Scrap Excavators, Old Scrap Cranes, and things of this nature. Light Iron & Tin

This group of steel consists of mostly light, dirty, or otherwise unprepared material that has a wide range of examples. Most of these items don’t fit into the other categories. This type of steel is known as “shredder”. This is because the variety of this steel is light enough to shred but not clean enough to be classified as Bailer.
