Professional Architectural Surveyor

Moshe Miller

While attending Kent State University, one full semester in Junior year focused on documenting an old Vaudeville Theater, for the purpose of submitting, as a class, existing drawings for the National yearly competition established by the Historic American Building Surveys.  HABS was established to capture the Architectural design and detail of buildings, in drawing form, for the purpose of education and preserving history, before significant buildings were lost to time and change.   The theater was very complex, with an interesting flow of space, many curves, many angles; a definite challenge to document.  I enjoyed the exploration, and was thrilled our class submission took Second place nationally.

I graduated from KSU in 2000 with a BS and BA in Architecture.  I worked with Architecture firms in Ohio between semesters, and with a firm or two in Baltimore.  When junior staff were needed, to go out and measure a building before we could implement our design phase, I noticed I was usually eager to go on site, and continue the Architectural exploration, lit by my HABS semester.  Seeing a gap and absence of reliable as-built drawings, I decided to focus on filling this need full time, and launched ArchServ LLC in 2003.  In 2010 I felt the name Architectural Building Surveys better captured the essence of the service I provide.
