THE WAY.
“This is the Way”.
This Mandalorian Mantra, of the Star Wars series, successfully captures in four words, a powerful ethic. It defines understanding of one’s past, committing to, and belonging to a historical chain . . . to being in the present with purpose . . . and forging a commitment to continue the moral mission into the future.
I feel this Creed defines my personal journey, as I navigate each day and moment . . . and it gives depth to navigating every space, floorplate, or building, each day I create as-built drawings.
Walking through a building taking measurements room by room, I can see echoes of history, similar to exploring a museum.
Who were the previous occupants? What leisure or productive activities were generated here? How many people benefited from their efforts? Who will be the next users of this space? What positive contributions will they bring to individuals, to families, to community, to Nation? How much of the existing conditions will be kept, and how much will be redesigned and renovated? Who designed the existing layout? What programming defined their choices for creating this specific flow of space. How well did it serve its users? Can it be improved upon? Are there educational and historical designs and details worth capturing in drawing form, to preserve for study and benefit in the future?
With these thoughts in mind, I am able to focus on just the right level of detail needed to tell this building’s story . . .
I enjoy the work, as I sense I am a bridge, connecting the past with the future, being part of the chain of productive energy.
Providing accurate drawings of existing buildings, improves the built environment, and feels refreshing, where I support healthy positive energy, helping others generate purpose and mission.
Below are samples of building types, each with its own story . . . its own style.. . . enjoy the tour . . . I did 😉
